Richard’s practice focuses on energy and infrastructure projects, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and informal dispute resolution.

Richard has been a resident in Thailand since 1996. He represents clients in the development, acquisition, financing and disposition of power, petrochemical, and infrastructure projects; in negotiating and documentation of EPC, offtake and other major project contracts; and in the acquisition of interests in renewable energy projects. He regularly advises energy sector and other clients on a wide variety of corporate, regulatory, contract, employment and other business matters.

  • Advising Glow Energy pcl, a subsidiary of GDF Suez, in its greenfield development of a 54MW wind farm project in Thailand
  • Advising Chubu Electric on its acquisition of an equity stake in project company developing 6 solar power projects under Thailand's VSPP Program
  • Advising Chubu Electric Power Company on its acquisition of an equity stake in two 90MW greenfield wind farm projects under Thailand's SPP Program
  • Acting as international counsel to SUEZ Energy International and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. for the financing of the Nghi Son 2 - 2 x 600MW coal-fired thermal power plant in Vietnam by the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam through its Ministry of Industry and Trade, including potential financing to be provided by JBIC and ADB
  • Advising Chubu Electric in respect of its role as O&M contractor for the Ratchaburi Power Company's IPP
