Profile

Serena has particular interests in banking and finance and insolvency litigation as well as debt and asset recovery.  She attained the Institute of Chartered Accountants' Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency in 2013.  She has a broad range of experience in acting for both public and private sector clients, including many leading financial institutions and is an experienced advocate having regularly represented clients in proceedings in the Sheriff Court. She also has experience in relation to actions before the Court of Session.  This experience affords her a wide perspective of the issues at play for various sectors in the legal market as well as an insight into the various factors that might shape a resolution. This ensures that she achieves the best possible outcome for individual clients.

Serena regularly advises national clearing banks and other lenders on repossession actions over residential and non-residential property and is regularly instructed in the recovery of heritable property by insolvency practitioners. Serena also has a great deal of experience of dealing with advising clients as regards general debt recovery and implementing debt recovery procedures from issue of a letter demanding payment to the issue of a statutory demand followed by a petition for liquidation/ sequestration or raising of a court action.  Serena regularly provides bespoke training to clients on all of these topics.
