Profile

Steven specialises in employment law. In particular, he focuses on statutory directors and their dismissal, employee participation and employment conditions.
He read civil law and business law at Leiden University. Furthermore, he gained international experience during the Erasmus exchange programme in Italy. He obtained a master's degree in European Private Law from the University of Amsterdam. Steven also completed the Grotius Employment Law specialist training with distinction.
Steven appears in print on a regular basis and gives lectures on various employment law issues. He is the established Employment Law case law (JAR) annotator with regard to administrative matters and he is an Employment Law lecturer at the Grotius Health Law training. This section of the Grotius training includes the components directors, the Executives' Pay (Standards) Act, co-determination and unilateral changes to the terms and conditions of employment. He has extensive experience in this and other employment law areas, and he acts on behalf of numerous clients (including hospitals and listed companies).
In cooperation with Annemieke Hendrikse, who is a partner at Van Doorne and specialised in directors' and officers' liability, Steven developed the 'Directors' check', informing directors about their employment law and liability position. At no cost, Steven and Annemieke make directors aware of their particular situations and responsibilities and answer their questions, using the Directors' check.
