Stevie Rushing is a litigator whose current practice is largely devoted to clients in the loan and securities industries. Stevie regularly represents lenders and loan servicers in state and federal court, defending against claims of wrongful foreclosure, fraud, and violations of federal statutes such as RESPA and the FCRA. She also represents broker-dealers, financial advisors, and firms in a variety of settings: civil lawsuits in state and federal court, FINRA arbitrations, and enforcement actions and investigations before the Mississippi Securities Division and FINRA.

Stevie’s litigation experience is complimented by her appellate work. She has taken the lead on briefs to the Mississippi Court of Appeals, the Mississippi Supreme Court, and the United States Supreme Court, primarily on behalf of financial institutions and correctional healthcare providers.

Stevie also has developed a unique practice assisting clients who wish to protect their confidential information from disclosure under the Mississippi Public Records Act, which is Mississippi’s equivalent of the federal Freedom of Information Act. She has not only sought protective orders under the MPRA for numerous clients, but she also has helped clients determine how best to prepare confidential information for submission to public entities. Because of her experience with the MPRA, Stevie can help clients navigate similar statutes in other states within the client’s footprint.
