Ted Seitz is a Lansing based member of Dykema’s Litigation Department. He represents clients in Michigan and throughout the United States in complex and high-stakes litigation, primarily in the areas of class actions and commercial litigation. Mr. Seitz also has experience representing public and mid-market corporations in various commercial disputes, including contract, UCC, trade secret, along with tax and licensing matters in state and federal courts. Mr. Seitz’s experience extends to litigating complex securities class action cases, high-exposure wrongful death/personal injury actions, white-collar criminal defense matters, and actions regarding large nonprofit foundations. Mr. Seitz also represents and provides counsel to elected public officials, along with compliance counsel to financial services companies. He has authored several chapters of the Consumer Financial Services Answer Book, one of the best-selling treatises in the field.

In addition to litigating numerous matters in Court, Mr. Seitz’s experience includes representing clients in court-annexed and private arbitrations and in other alternative dispute resolution processes. He has achieved many successful outcomes, including trials and arbitrations for national and international corporations in state, federal and appellate courts. This includes extensive experience in mediating, negotiating, defending, and enforcing nationwide class action settlements — employing creative solutions to resolve complex matters. While always aggressively pursuing clients’ legal rights, Mr. Seitz works closely with each client to understand their strategic objectives, along with being alert to clients’ interests in diminishing the expense and distraction that litigation may impose, and he works with clients to maximize their litigation posture and to explore alternative solutions to legal problems.

Mr. Seitz was recently appointed by the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan to serve as mediator in a series of prisoner rights cases brought against the State of Michigan.
