Hunton & Williams LLP Launches Health Care Reform Center

Hunton & Williams announced today the launch of its new website — the Hunton & Williams Health Care Reform Center,  huntonhealthcarereform.com. The website focuses on legal develop-ments in the area of the recent federal health care reform implemented through three key pieces of legislation: the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (enacted March 23, 2010), the amendments to the Affordable Care Act contained in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (enacted March 30, 2010), and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (enacted February 17, 2009, as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009). It discusses hot topics on a broad range of health care reform issues and includes analysis of statutory provisions, related regulations and releases from the various government agencies involved in the health care reform process.

“The Hunton & Williams Health Care Reform Center provides a platform for us to share with our clients critical information and insights about federal health care reform as soon as such information becomes available,” said Greg Robertson, who is co-chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice and is based in the firm’s Richmond office.

Scott Austin, who is one of the leading members of the firm’s Employee Benefits practice and is based in the firm’s Dallas office observed, “Our goal is to construct a multidisciplinary health care reform steering committee composed of leading lawyers who have experience in all practice areas relating to federal health care reform and who are intimately familiar with the law and the regulatory process that is underway, so that we can provide comprehensive advice on issues that matter to our clients in this area.”

The website was developed by a multi-disciplinary health care reform steering committee made up of lawyers from many of the firm’s practice areas affected by the health reform legislation, including Employee Benefits,  Health  Care and Labor & Employment, to name a few. The Employee Benefits group advises clients on all facets of benefits law includ-ing design of pension plans, executive compensation programs and health care arrangements, bankruptcy matters involving benefit plans, fiduciary duties and compliance issues. Our Health Care practice serves hospitals and integrated health systems, physicians, drug manufacturers, health insurers and other health care providers, and advises clients on federal regulatory compliance matters (including anti-kickback and “Stark Law” issues), the development of accountable care organizations and other quality and clinical integration initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, health record privacy and security, corporate governance and physician disciplinary issues, certificates of public need, health provider contracts, and patient care issues. The Labor and Employment practice covers the entire spectrum of labor and employment litigation; arbitration; administrative practice before the NLRB, EEOC, and the Labor Department; federal contract compliance; wage-hour standards and
client counseling under federal and state labor and employment laws.
