Melissa Brown Joins Dykema

Dykema announces that Melissa C. Brown has joined the firm as Of Counsel in the Litigation Department, resident in its Grand Rapids office. Ms. Brown is a litigator specializing in securities litigation, general commercial litigation, and federal equity receivership matters.

Ms. Brown practiced commercial litigation in Chicago for ten years before returning to West Michigan. She has represented public corporations in shareholder derivative and class action lawsuits; broker-dealer organizations in regulatory investigations; federal equity receivers; a national stock exchange; and other businesses, public and private, in commercial litigation. Ms. Brown has also represented, on a pro bono basis, a defendant in two highly publicized trials in the Cook County, Illinois, criminal court.

Prior to her legal career, Ms. Brown was a consultant providing speechwriting, strategic communications development, and corporate identity consulting both within West Michigan and nationally. She has consulted with senior management on corporate identity programs, investor relations, employee communications, marketing, and executive speechwriting, and taught nationally promoted workshops in effective corporate communications.

A resident of Saugatuck, Michigan, Ms. Brown received her B.A., with high honors, from Grand Valley State University, her M.S. in journalism from Ohio University, and her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame.
