Heuking Accompanies Sale of Burger Chain Hans im Glück

| A team led by Prof. Dr. Georg Streit advised HANS IM GLÜCK Franchise GmbH on the sale of burger chain Hans im Glück. Former majority shareholder AML Invest Treuhandgesellschaft mbH sold and transferred its stake in HANS IM GLÜCK Franchise GmbH to an investor group. The group includes GAB Grundstücks-, Finanzierungs-, Verwaltungs- und Beteiligungs GmbH, an existing minority shareholder, and the founders of bakery chain Backwerk, Dr. Dirk Schneider and Dr. Hans-Christian Limmer. The transaction was closed in Düsseldorf on Friday, January 17, 2020. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The new shareholders primarily intend to strengthen and further expand the franchise system. The two current general managers Johannes Bühler and Jens Hallbauer will remain with HANS IM GLÜCK Franchise GmbH. In the months prior to the transaction, the Heuking team was retained for legal support, particularly relating to Corporate and M&A, in an intricate situation and was involved in complex negotiations. HANS IM GLÜCK was founded by Thomas Hirschberger in Munich in 2010 and was most recently held through his family holding company AML Invest Treuhandgesellschaft mbH. Currently operating 81 branches, the brand is on an expansion path. In 2019, HANS IM GLÜCK Franchise GmbH recorded the strongest sales growth since its foundation with external sales in excess of EUR 147 million.
