Energy company RDG GmbH & Co. KG acquires parts of oil production in Germany from Wintershall Dea GmbH advised by Heuking

January, 2020 - Germany

A team led by Dr. Katharina Prasuhn from the Hamburg office advised energy company RDG GmbH & Co. KG (RDG) on the acquisition of oil production operations from Wintershall Dea GmbH by way of an asset deal. The purchase agreement was notarized on December 30, 2019. Closing is expected in the first half of 2020. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.

The production sites are mainly located in southern Germany in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, and Rhineland-Palatinate as well as in Lower Saxony. The sites (including their employees) will join RDG.

RDG is already active as operator in concession areas in Lower Saxony and Bavaria. As a young, growing company, RDG is following a new approach with regard to local extraction of raw materials and specializes in optimizing the extraction of existing fields and focusing on sustainable, environmentally friendly use. The company has offices in Hanover and Vienna and operates under the umbrella of alternative specialist investor Shorelight (formerly Petroleum Equity).

The team led by Dr. Katharina Prasuhn regularly advises RDG on transactions and day-to-day business.
