Heuking Successfully Advises GET.ON in First Funding Round

April, 2020 - Germany

A team led by Christoph Prochnau, Salaried Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek’s Hamburg office, legally advised GET.ON Institut für Online Gesundheitstrainings GmbH comprehensively on its first funding round (Seed I). Founded as a university spin-off by a team of graduate psychologists in Hamburg in 2015, GET.ON has so far grown from own funds. Upon conclusion of the funding round, GET.ON will operate under the “HelloBetter” brand name.

HelloBetter offers its customers online health training, validated by clinical studies, in areas including stress, depression, anxiety, panic, or sleep disorders. Co-founder Prof. Dr. David D. Ebert, who has been researching Internet-based health interventions for many years and has published numerous scientific articles on the topic is one of the scientific brains behind the training offered. Hannes Klöpper, the new CEO on board since last year, contributed his experience in the field of start-ups and online platforms, devoting significant efforts to making HelloBetter “investment ready.” Dr. Hanne Horvath and Dr. Elena Heber, two of the founders who acted as general managers until 2019, have also remained with the company operationally. In the new set-up, they are responsible for Business Development and Content and Research.

After an internal reorganization last year, which was also supported by Heuking, HelloBetter is now focusing on using the newly acquired funds from the Seed I funding for the next jump in growth. This will also be promoted by the Digital Care Act, which was passed in 2020 and which will enable physicians to prescribe online health training in the future. Previously, such training was mainly offered via cooperation with individual health insurance companies or to self-payers. The new legal situation opens up a growth market for HelloBetter, in which the young company enjoys an ideal starting point due to the scientifically proven effectiveness of its training courses.

Investors in the funding round include Bavarian-based Ideamed Health Group, a Hamburg-based investment company, and other business angels who want to remain anonymous.
