Kocián Šolc Balaštík once again named Czech Republic’s Law Firm of the Year

Prague, 9 May 2007 – Kocián Šolc Balaštík has been named Czech Republic’s Law Firm of the Year 2007 in the Who’s Who Legal Awards. This is the second consecutive time the firm has been recognised in this way, having won the inaugural award last year. In addition, Kocián Šolc Balaštík was the first independent national firm to ever win the award.

The awards are awarded by Law Business Research Limited, a London based research company engaged in legal market research and evaluation of legal service providers. It is considered to be one of the most reliable sources of information on the legal services market in over 100 countries worldwide and is the official research partner of the International Bar Association. The results are officially published in The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers, a compendium volume of the practice areas covered by Who’s Who Legal’s separate single volume publications.

Editor in chief Callum Campbell said, “It is an outstanding achievement to win the Czech Republic’s Law Firm of the Year Award for a second time. Kocián Šolc Balaštík’s continuing success demonstrates its consistent and unparalleled level of individual and collective talent. We have no hesitation in declaring Kocián Šolc Balaštík the leading firm in Czech Republic.”

Martin Šolc, the Managing Partner of Kocián Šolc Balaštík, added, “As it was paraphrased many times in the past, winning once is not as difficult as winning twice. Long-term respect from our clients and positive feedback from our competition – forming the grounds for the Who’s Who Legal evaluation – are the signals that our efforts are meaningful and serves as an incentive for us to further improve.”

Who’s Who Legal Awards is the result of thousands of nominations from clients and private practice professionals. The evaluation criteria include information such as the number of attorneys in a particular firm listed in the compendium, number of practice areas covered by the firm, the ranking in the previous awards and the aggregate weighted votes cast in favour of the lawyers in the firm compared with the aggregate cast if favour of attorneys from other law firms in a particular country. It is impossible to buy entry into The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers. Financial considerations play no part in the selection process and only lawyers who have met independent international research criteria are listed. This book represents an accurate and impartial picture of the global private practice marketplace. For details, see www.whoswholegal.com.
