Van Doorne appoints two new partners and continues its growth

November, 2020 - Amsterdam, Netherlands

As of 1 January 2021, Vanessa Liem (1979) and Steven Sterk (1980) are appointed partners of Van Doorne. Both were already associated with the firm. With the addition of Vanessa and Steven, the firm will continue its earlier partner growth and strengthen its position within the regulatory, transactional and procedural law practice.

Following the arrival of Meltem Koning in September and Léone Klapwijk in October, managing partner Saskia Laseur will once again be welcoming two new members to the partner group. And she is proud of that. "We are extremely satisfied with the appointment of Steven and Vanessa. We see that this fits our clients' demands and current issues that increasingly revolve around employment law, but also in the field of criminal law and regulatory enforcement - and in particular internal investigation and business conduct. With the strengthening of our position in these fields, we will be able to meet and address our clients needs even better and to provide top-quality advice".

Vanessa Liem runs the internal investigation practice at Van Doorne and is specialized in advising on business conduct and compliance matters. The entire criminal defense and internal investigations team led by Jan Leliveld has doubled in size in a short space of time and distinguishes itself by a variety of experience and expertise. For Vanessa Liem, the partnership is an acknowledgement for the work she has been doing for Van Doorne since 2018. "I am extremely happy with this appointment and grateful for the trust and oppurtunity that was given to me to make my return to the legal profession a success. It is an absolute milestone and I am very much looking forward to further working together with people inside and outside Van Doorne".

Steven Sterk focuses on employment law with a focus on the healthcare sector and corporate employment law practice. In that context, he deals inter alia with statutory directors and management, employee participation and (health care-specific) employment conditions. "I am proud of this appointment and look forward to further expanding and highlighting employment law within our growing corporate law practice and our strong healthcare practice". Sterk has been with Van Doorne for many years now and during that period has been for example one of the driving forces behind the launch of the Transition Fee Tool and the Director Check.
