LEGA Abogados Adds Six New Partners to its Caracas Office.

LEĜA Abogados is pleased to announce the incorporation of six new partners as of April 1st, 2021. With this new addition, the firm brings its partners count to thirty.

This newly promoted group of young professionals is formed by Rosa Caballero Perdomo, Andrés Mejía Barboza, Isabel Pestana, Fernando Sanquírico Pittevil, Elías Tarbay Reverón and Dubraska Zapiaín.

Below is a brief biographical outline of each of these professionals.

Rosa Caballero is a lawyer graduated from Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV for its Spanish acronym). Specialist in Tax Law, with honors, from UCV. Diploma in International Taxation from Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Diploma in International Tax Law from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. Professor of Tax Law in UCV. She joined LEĜA in 2012 after several years of experience in the legal department of KPMG. Rosa works in our Tax Law Department. She is a tax specialist and has given special attention to administrative and judicial proceedings in tax matters. Her trajectory is also accompanied by an academic and professional activity that has allowed her to stand out in the tax forum.

Andrés Mejía is a lawyer graduated from Universidad Central de Venezuela. He joined LEĜA in 2012 as a legal assistant in the Labor Law Department. He has developed his entire professional career at LEĜA, rising through the different professional levels until his incorporation to the partnership. Andrés specializes in providing legal advice in banking and financial matters to national and international institutions and in the structuring and development of mergers and acquisitions projects. Andres also has extensive experience in labor law and is a senior member of the firm's Entrepreneurship Department, where he focuses his practice on the formalization, capital raising and regulatory feasibility of business ventures. Andres has a specialization in Finance from IESA.

Isabel Pestana is a lawyer graduated from Universidad Central de Venezuela with honors Magna Cum Laude. She joined LEĜA in 2013, initially as a Junior Lawyer. Throughout her professional practice she has specialized in the area of labor law and occupational health and safety, providing advice to national and international companies in various sectors such as: food and beverages, health and pharmaceutical, construction and engineering, technology, hydrocarbons, among others; representing clients in lawsuits and administrative proceedings; and carrying out audits, negotiation and restructuring processes, strategic labor planning and design of compensation plans. She has also worked in areas such as retail and wholesale, food, beverage, agribusiness and construction. Isabel has successfully developed through the different professional levels of the firm until her incorporation to the partnership.

Fernando Sanquírico is a lawyer graduated from Universidad Monteávila. He has a specialization in Corporate Law from Universidad Metropolitana and is a PhD candidate at Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. During the last seven years he was part of the firm InterJuris Abogados, S.C., where he accumulated important experience in the areas of corporate law and national, international and investment commercial arbitration. Fernando joined LEĜA in October 2020.

Elías Tarbay is a lawyer graduated from Universidad Central de Venezuela. He joined LEĜA in 2012 as legal assistant in the area of litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Elías has developed his entire professional career at LEĜA, rising through the different professional levels until his incorporation to the partnership. Elías has worked in the areas of litigation and alternative dispute resolution, criminal litigation, real estate and corporate. Elías graduated from IESA's MBA in 2019, institution at which he is part of the faculty since 2020.

Dubraska Zapiain is a lawyer graduated from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello with specialization studies in International Economic and Integration Law, as well as Tax Law. She joined LEĜA in 2016 after several years of experience at KPMG's legal department. Dubraska works in our Corporate Law Department, supporting our clients from different industries, in their different requirements, such as commercial, civil, corporate, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, trade and entrepreneurship matters.

The incorporation of our six new partners comes at a time when the country is going through an unprecedented political, social and economic crisis, however, it is an important proof of the optimism with which the firm foresees the immense opportunities that will arise in the country with the return of the rule of law.
