Bradley Partner Gene Besen Interviewed on Texas, OU Conference Move to SEC

August, 2021 - Birmingham, Alabama

Bradley attorney  Gene Besen was featured in an ABC WFAA interview discussing the departure of Oklahoma University and the University of Texas from the Big 12 Conference. The universities’ move to the Southeastern Conference could cost the Big 12 Conference hundreds of millions of dollars and thousands of jobs. Some insiders predict Texas and Oklahoma will leave the Big 12 early, despite a pledge from both schools to stay through 2025.

"Most likely I think if they want to leave early they can offer to buy themselves out of the contract," Besen explained. "It can just be a normal, not normal but at least a routine, business negotiation from a contract law standpoint."

The original article, "Economist projects nearly $940 million loss from Texas, OU conference move,” appeared on ABC WFAA on July 29, 2021.
