DFDL Joins Global Restructuring & Insolvency Professionals Network in the Asia-Pacific Region

September, 2021 - Phnom Penh, Cambodia

DFDL is pleased to join the Global Restructuring and Insolvency Professionals (“GRIP”) Network Asia-Pacific.

Launched in 2014 in Europe, GRIP is a cross-border network of independent insolvency firms across Europe, Canada, Central and South America and Asia-Pacific. The network currently has members in 24 countries across the globe – all of them experienced, high-calibre insolvency and restructuring practitioners.

Earlier this year, Jirsch Sutherland, one of Australia’s leading restructuring and insolvency firms, expanded its international presence by becoming the regional lead of GRIP Asia-Pacific. In this role, the national firm’s partners carefully select and invite independent insolvency firms across the region to become members, including DFDL. DFDL is thrilled to count itself among the five inaugural members of GRIP Asia-Pacific, standing alongside other pivotal international and local players in the Southeast Asian region.

Given the surging levels of insolvency and restructuring activity resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, this Asia-Pacific network has been carefully crafted to address rising demand by linking expert local insolvency practitioners with clients and industry leaders seeking the high level capabilities and readily deployable resources needed to handle complex cross-border insolvency and restructuring matters in this rapidly growing region.

Chris Robinson, DFDL Partner and Co-Head of the Restructuring & Insolvency Practice, observed “with the current COVID-19 situation, knowledge of local laws, regulations and access to local resources contribute significantly to achieving an optimized outcome for clients in a speedy and effective manner. By joining the GRIP network, our clients will have access to specialist experience within our jurisdictions and across the globe.”

The DFDL Regional Restructuring & Insolvency team has extensive experience advising ASEAN clients across a range of local and cross-border restructuring, refinancing and insolvency matters covering aspects such as:

  • Cross-border corporate restructuring and workouts
  • Debt restructuring and rescheduling
  • Distressed assets and contingency planning
  • Divestment of distressed businesses and assets
  • Enforcement of securities
  • Formal bankruptcy and insolvency procedures
  • Insolvency planning and negotiations
  • Renegotiation of commercial agreements, including leasing contracts
  • Settlement of unpaid taxes in the course of liquidation and dissolution
  • Tax advisory and tax return review for entity liquidation and dissolution
  • Tax debt restructuring and forgiveness
  • Workforce restructuring.
