Shoosmiths named ‘Law Firm of the Year’ in Scotland

November, 2021 - Milton Keynes, England

Leading UK law firm Shoosmiths underscored its growing presence in Scotland by winning ‘Law Firm of the Year’ at The Herald Law Awards of Scotland.

The win comes after last month’s opening of the firm’s Glasgow office at The Garment Factory, in the Merchant City Central Conservation Area of Glasgow city centre.
Judges praised the firm’s ability to attract high calibre hires, its commitment to investment in Scotland, its raft of new clients, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) credentials.

The ceremony, which was held remotely, will be followed by a winner’s dinner on 25 November.

Janette Speed, head of Scotland at Shoosmiths, said: “We’re thrilled Shoosmiths has been recognised as Scotland’s Law Firm of the Year. We’re an ambitious firm and believe in investing in Scotland – it is a place with incredible talent, excellent businesses, and a bright future.

“To have won this a month after opening our Glasgow office is fantastic. To be recognised for our growing market presence, new clients and hires, and also for our ESG credentials after the COP26 conference in Glasgow, shows we’re on the path to achieving our ambition to be the leading UK law firm famous for its client experience and one that makes aa positive contribution to society.

Simon Boss, CEO of Shoosmiths, added: “This recognition from The Herald Law Awards is confirmation for us that Shoosmiths is achieving its aims in Scotland; and the investment continues.

“There is no doubt that our market presence is growing quickly given that we have the ability to offer strength and depth across a wide range of service lines. What also makes us proud is the difference we have made in the communities we operate in too.

“We are, no doubt, increasingly becoming the law firm to work for, and do business with in Scotland.”
