Dykema, a leading national law firm, is proud to announce that Laura Baucus, director of the firm’s Automotive Industry Group, was selected by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as a “Leader in the Law.” Baucus will be recognized at an awards luncheon on December 2, 2021, at the Detroit Marriott Troy. Michigan Lawyers Weekly will publish a special supplement on December 6, 2021, featuring a profile of each honoree.

According to Michigan Lawyers Weekly, the recipients of this award have made outstanding contributions to the practice of law in Michigan and set an example for other lawyers. They have shown tremendous leadership and offer a wealth of expertise in diverse areas of the law.

Baucus is a results-oriented litigator and business attorney with experience delivering consistent results to clients in the automotive, aerospace, and other manufacturing industries. Her practice is unique; a hybrid litigation and business transactions practice. She is committed to providing outstanding representation to clients on supply chain, production, force majeure, and other contract performance and termination issues.

In addition to her role as director of the firm’s Automotive Industry Group, Baucus is also the leader of a Dykema OEM client team and a co-leader of the firm’s COVID-19 Task Force. She led efforts on Dykema’s COVID-19 Automotive Outlook Flash Survey, where the firm partnered with MICHauto and The Right Place. The survey covered the state of the auto industry during the pandemic and the current and future U.S. economy.

Baucus develops and presents a significant number of community-wide presentations covering a variety of topics such as contract performance, customer and supplier financial distress, the impact on supply chain contracts, liability exposure, legal risk training to navigate changing landscapes, and practical steps to protect businesses.

Baucus earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from Wayne State University School of Law and a B.A., summa cum laude, from the Catholic University of America.
