Carey Olsen supports International Women's Day 2022

March, 2022 - Bermuda, Bermuda

Siobhan Riley, partner and head of Carey Olsen's trusts and private wealth practice in Jersey, said: "Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias impedes people, whatever their walk of life, from realising their full potential. This, in turn, impedes businesses and organisations from accessing the widest pool of talent available in our communities.

"We can break bias in our workplaces and in our schools, colleges and universities but it involves a collective effort from us all. We each need to pay attention each day to our own actions, words and thoughts; we need to support the next generation to reach their full potential, whatever that may be and whatever their gender; and ultimately we need to call out gender bias when we see it or hear it."

Catalyst and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) continue as Charities of Choice for IWD in 2022, with Carey Olsen making a donation to both charities to further support their missions.

Elsewhere across the group, Bernadette Carey and a team of Carey Olsen volunteers in the Cayman Islands are hosting 10 young women as part of the 100 Women in Finance Pre-Career Initiative; our British Virgin Islands office is donating to the Family Support Network, which works to support those affected by domestic violence, and has also taken on the primary sponsorship role for the BVI Netball Club - an organisation that champions greater support for and involvement in women’s sport; our London office is partnering with its chosen charities, Southall Black Sisters and Beam Social Enterprise, to support local women affected by domestic violence, homelessness, and a lack of access to education and training; and in the Channel Islands, we have made donations to local women's refuges that provide safe spaces for women and children who are victims of domestic violence, as well as giving them access to ongoing professional support and advice.
