Dinsmore’s Chicago Growth Continues with New Employment Partner Thaddeus Harrell

May, 2022 - Louisville, Kentucky

Dinsmore & Shohl LLP is pleased to welcome partner Thaddeus Harrell to the nationwide firm’s growing Chicago office and nationally recognized labor and employment department.

Harrell is the latest in a string of new hires for Dinsmore in the Windy City, which added 25 new employees (12 attorneys and 13 support staff) from the beginning of the pandemic through the end of 2021.

Harrell represents businesses of all sizes – predominantly in the health care and real estate sectors – in employment matters of all kinds, including defending charges of discrimination and claims related to workers’ compensation. Much of his recent work has focused on counseling clients regarding diversity, equity and inclusion, return-to-work initiatives related to COVID-19 and implementation of sexual harassment trainings. Harrell joins Dinsmore after eight years at another national Am Law 200 firm, where he began his career as a clerk and was promoted to partner earlier this year.

He chose to join Dinsmore for its momentum, culture and the opportunities it offers attorneys to continue expanding their careers.

“The firm’s growth and direction are very attractive and exciting,” Harrell said. “I appreciate Dinsmore’s emphasis on collegiality, and I’m excited that Dinsmore is affording me the opportunity to develop my platform and directly offer my services to the firm’s impressive roster of clients.”

He also has a long-standing professional relationship through involvement with the National Employment Law Council with Dinsmore labor partner and board member J.T. Wilson III, with whom he’ll work closely at Dinsmore.

“This is an exciting opportunity to further support Thaddeus’ career,” Wilson said. “His talents complement the offerings of the labor and employment team, and he will help propel Dinsmore toward our goals in the Chicago legal community.”

Apart from his employment work, Harrell also provides pro bono counsel to SkyART, a Chicago-based nonprofit that offers free artistic education to local kids, and to Necessities for Children, a Florida- and Missouri-based organization that provides STEM programs to underserved youth.

Harrell earned a B.S. in biology from Barry University and his J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law.
