Addition of Prominent M&A Partner Gustaf ‘Gus’ Andreasen Continues Dinsmore’s Aggressive Growth in Michigan

Dinsmore & Shohl LLP is continuing its aggressive growth in Detroit with the addition of corporate partner Gustaf “Gus” Andreasen, a highly regarded attorney who joins from Howard & Howard.

He is the second esteemed partner to join the office this month, and he is the seventh working in mergers and acquisitions to choose Dinsmore in Detroit since July of 2021, following in the footsteps of prominent Michigan attorney Joe DeVito last year. Earlier this month, DeVito and his team closed an approximately $175 million sale of Cloverdale Equipment to Herc Rentals.

Andreasen is a strategic adviser to privately held companies, acting as their general counsel on a wide array of legal needs, including mergers and acquisitions, governance, litigation, contracts, intellectual property, finance and real estate. He routinely serves as counsel on public and corporate finance transactions, having closed on deals in excess of $2 billion in value.

“The addition of Gus and his practice to Dinsmore’s M&A team is a terrific vote of confidence in the firm and our platform for growth,” said Dinsmore Michigan Office Managing Partner Mark Schneider. “Dinsmore offers the strength of a national firm. We are very flexible in terms of the practices we can accommodate and exceptionally transparent when it comes to our realization and compensation structures.”

Andreasen chose Dinsmore due to the firm’s impressive and aggressive growth both in Michigan and nationally, as well as Dinsmore’s depth and breadth of services he can offer existing clients upon his arrival.

“The pool of talented attorneys at Dinsmore is impressive,” Andreasen said. “I made the decision to join the firm because Dinsmore offers a full array of legal services that will help my clients immensely and serve all of their needs.”

DeVito envisions a seamless partnership with Andreasen, who was his close colleague at Butzel Long and Howard & Howard from 1999-2021.

“Gus is a great friend and an even better corporate attorney and trusted advisor to his clients,” DeVito said. “We have been partners since the late ’90s, and I am excited to welcome and reunite Gus with the Dinsmore deal team.”

Andreasen boasts a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating and has been named to Michigan Leading Lawyers attorney every year since 2017. In addition to his professional achievements, Andreasen has served on the Detroit/Wayne County Stadium Authority, the Grosse Pointe Academy Board of Trustees, the Country Club of Detroit Board of Governors and is an honorary board member for the Ted Lindsay Foundation.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University and a J,D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.
