DFDL’s Kevin Hawkins Featured in Vietnam M&A Outlook

DFDL is pleased to report that Kevin Hawkins (Partner, DFDL Vietnam) was a featured expert in an article on the outlook for the mergers and acquisitions market in 2023.
The article “Experts Look to 2023 for Top M&A Deals,” which was published in the November 28th edition of Vietnam Investment Review, brought together leading analysts to provide insight on what had been described as a “sluggish” period for Vietnam’s M&A sector.
As Kevin pointed out, however, that next year should provide an uptick in the market, notably in the energy industry, which reached USD 600 million in 2022 – an increase of six times compared to 2021.
“Vietnam continues to enjoy favorable macro-level economic conditions for investors, such as positive GDP growth, a stable political climate, focused trade agreements, increasing urbanization of its population, a young and educated work force, and investor-friendly regulations,” Kevin was quoted as saying by the Investment Review.
He continued: “These factors bode well for increased M&A activity, especially in certain sectors, as we head into the new year. New legislation requiring localization of data will certainly increase interest in data center projects. The new land law, expected to be issued sometime next year, may generate more interest in real estate projects, especially if issues pertaining to foreigner land use rights can be resolved.”
