Garrigues Honored by the Spanish Cancer Association (AECC)

September, 2008 - Madrid, Spain

Garrigues has been honored by the Spanish Cancer Association (AECC) for the legal advice and unwavering support given to the initiatives taken by the Association. The tribute was paid last Thursday in the Teatro Colón in La Coruña, during the ceremony for the Cancer Research Grants awarded annually by the AECC through its Science Foundation. Along with Garrigues, the journalist Mercedes Milá also received recognition for her unstinting work in supporting the fight against cancer. The Princess of Asturias, who oversaw the event, referred to the Firm and the journalist as “two examples of enormous generosity.”

By recognizing Garrigues for its work, it is the first time that Spanish Cancer Association has paid tribute to a collective body. The Chairman of the AECC’s Science Foundation, Francisco González, hailed the great work that the Garrigues professional team has been doing for some time in defending the Association’s legal interests.

In turn, Antonio Garrigues stressed in his speech that working with the AECC is “a bonus for the Firm as it provides us with the opportunity to help people who are doing a truly admirable job.” The Firm was also represented by Miguel Gordillo, Managing Partner; Ramón Bárcena and Pedro Regojo, Garrigues partners in Galicia; and the Garrigues advisory team that works with the AECC, namely partners José Palacios and José Manuel Mateo, as well as associate Vicente Bootello.
