Shoosmiths builds out contentious construction practice with new partner John Williams
Shoosmiths is pleased to announce the addition of Partner John Williams to the Construction team in Leeds, where he will focus on further developing the firm’s construction advisory and dispute management capabilities on a nationwide basis.
John joins from Pinsent Masons, where he had been a partner since 2012, bringing over 25 years’ experience in construction law to Shoosmiths. His practice focuses on complex construction and engineering disputes arising across various sectors including energy, waste management, telecoms, utilities, rail, and hospitality.
At Shoosmiths, John will play a key role in expanding the nationwide advisory and contentious construction offering. The firm aims to develop and expand this practice significantly, leveraging John’s deep sector knowledge and extensive industry relationships.
Patrick Garner, Head of Construction at Shoosmiths, said “The National Construction Team and our Divisional Leads see tremendous growth potential in construction dispute management and resolution, including within our established real estate, major projects and energy practices and we are excited to welcome John to the team to add great leadership, a wealth of experience and a more targeted approach to our existing high-quality offering. John’s breadth of experience, drive and approach to growing business make him an exceptional addition. He will be instrumental in helping us to enhance our contentious construction practice.”
John said, “Given the impressive strength of Shoosmiths’ existing client base and the legal talent spread across its UK network, the firm already has the ideal platform to develop a major construction advisory and dispute resolution practice and I am looking forward to advancing my practice at the firm.”
