New Employment Head for Shepherd and Wedderburn

Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has appointed Neil Maclean as Partner and head of its UK Employment Team.

Since qualifying in 1997, Neil has been with Anderson Strathern LLP, where he served 6 years as a board member and most recently was Head of Employment. A specialist in employment and discrimination law, Neil is recognised as a Leader in his Field by Chambers and Partners and is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as an Employment Law Specialist. Neil has strong experience in working on matters relating to TUPE, business re-organisation and trade union issues. Although his clients are drawn from across a range of sectors, Neil has particular experience in advising educational institutions. Neil handles both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. He regularly represents clients in employment tribunal disputes in Scotland and England and has made a number of appearances before the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

Neil will head up Shepherd and Wedderburn’s 17-strong employment practice, which spans the firm’s offices in Aberdeen, London, Glasgow, and in Edinburgh, where he will be based. He will join a team that already advises a number of high profile clients such as, Scottish Enterprise, Cairn Energy and Scottish & Newcastle.
