Pellerano & Herrera advise Barrick Gold Corporation on environmental redemption programs in the Dominican Republic

Pellerano & Herrera currently counsels Barrick Gold Corporation, the largest gold producer in the world, in connection with the installation, start up, and operation of the Pueblo Viejo gold mine, the largest foreign investment project in the history of the Dominican Republic.
Among many significant developments in Barrick’s huge Pueblo Viejo mining project, the firm has provided advice and assistance regarding the implementation of a US$1 billion environmental remediation program to recover from the damages caused to the natural resources in the area by the improper handling of the exploitation of the mine by the previous owner.
