Spilman Attorney Named W.Va. Bar Foundation Fellow

Morgantown, W.Va. — The law firm Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC announced today that Ward D. “Jerry” Stone, Jr., member in its Morgantown office, was named a West Virginia Bar Foundation Fellow. He joins fewer than 300 other Fellows previously selected from more than 5,000 eligible lawyers and judges in the state.

The Foundation bases its selection of Fellows on attorneys’ dedication to the welfare of their communities and honorable service to the legal profession in West Virginia. Seventeen lawyers and 3 members of the judiciary were selected as Fellows this year.

Stone has served on the West Virginia Board of Bar Examiners since 2001. He has previously served as a mental hygiene commissioner, presiding over hearings on involuntary hospitalization, guardianship and conservatorship, and on the Monongalia County Board of Education.

Stone has a broad practice that encompasses real estate, retail and commercial collections, wills and estate planning, and litigation. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from West Virginia University.
