Spilman Attorney on the Frontier of E-Discovery Ethics

Winston-Salem, N.C. — The law firm Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC (Spilman) announced today that attorney R. Scott Adams recently participated in a live national video webcast discussing the ethical issues surrounding electronic discovery (e-discovery).

The full webcast, titled “Document Management, Retention and Destruction”, was hosted by the Institute for Paralegal Education. A large national audience of attorneys and paralegals participated.

Adams’ portion of the webcast discussed general ethical issues with e-discovery, e-discovery rules, electronic production, ethical issues surrounding the handling of medical records, email ethics and metadata ethical issues.

Adams’ primary area of practice at Spilman is consumer financial services litigation. He has extensive experience in electronic discovery. He received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Colgate University and his law degree from West Virginia University College of Law.
