March, 2013 - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Pittsburgh — Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC (Spilman) is pleased to announce that Michael J. Tarutis has joined the firm’s Pittsburgh office. He is a member of the firm’s corporate finance practice group, wherein he focuses on start-up and early-stage firms.

Additionally, Tarutis will represent natural gas and other energy clients in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) matters, including FERC audits and FERC requests for information and Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NOPRs). He also will assist natural gas and energy clients in establishing internal compliance programs.

“In addition to Michael’s skills and creativity as a business lawyer, we are particularly excited about his extensive experience appearing before FERC on behalf of clients across the country,” said Ron Schuler, member in charge of the firm’s Pittsburgh office. “Michael’s addition to the firm helps to build out Spilman’s service offerings to our clients in the midstream natural gas industry.”

With the addition of Tarutis, Spilman’s Pittsburgh office has more than doubled in size since 2008. Prior to joining the firm, Tarutis practiced law in Colorado, New York and California. He also served as in-house general counsel for a number of energy and technology companies.
