Consortium Centro América Abogados Advised Corporación Multi-Inversiones in the Acquisition of the 40% of the Operations of Telefonica in Central America

onsortium Centro América Abogados advised the prestigious Guatemalan group Corporación Multi-Inversiones (CMI) in its acquisition of the 40% of the operation of the Spaniard telecoms giant Telefonica in Central America.

CMI is the Guatemalan holding company of the Gutiérrez-Bosch group, owners of the prestigious chain of fast food restaurants “Pollo Campero”, which has presence in 19 countries in 3 continents. CMI is one of the largest and most important multinationals in Latin America, currently undergoing an expansion and diversification process investing in different industries.

The operation represented an investment from CMI of US$500MM and includes payment of an additional contribution of capital of up to US$72MM from CMI depending on the evolution of the business in the upcoming years.

The transaction was leas by Alfredo Rodriguez Mahuad, partner of Consortium in Guatemala in coordination with Consortium’s office in El Salvador, Chamorro & Asociados in Nicaragua and Fábrega Molino & Mulino in Panama.

The closing of the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals in each jurisdiction.
