WASHINGTON — June 25, 2013 — The Centre for Information Policy Leadership at Hunton & Williams LLP is pleased to announce that Bojana Bellamy, global director of data privacy for Accenture, will be joining the firm as president of the Centre, effective September 2, 2013. Current Centre President Martin E. Abrams is retiring on September 1, staying on as an advisor to the Centre.

Bellamy is a renowned privacy professional with more than 20 years of experience and deep knowledge of global data privacy and cybersecurity law, compliance and policy. She has a proven industry record in designing strategy, and building and managing data privacy compliance programs. From 2011 to 2012, Bellamy served as chair of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and had been a member of the IAPP Board of Directors for the prior five years.

"The firm is fortunate to have Bojana lead the Centre into the next generation of information policy leadership. We are confident in her ability to work with member companies to find effective solutions to the ever-increasing problems they face in appropriately managing information around the globe," said Lisa Sotto, head of Hunton & Williams' global privacy and cybersecurity practice.

Since its establishment in 2001, the Centre has helped businesses, data protection authorities and consumer organizations rethink how to manage and protect personal data in today’s information age. It has addressed such issues as accountability, big data and analytics, cross-border data transfers, conflicting national legal requirements, privacy notices and government use of private-sector data.

"Marty Abrams has helped private and public stakeholders around the world shape their approaches to data privacy for more than 25 years," said Sotto. "We owe him a debt of gratitude for what he has built at the Centre during the past 13 years, and we thank him for his tremendous contributions to the profession."
