PLMJ NAMED PORTUGAL TAX FIRM OF THE YEAR 2014

May, 2014 - Lisbon, Portugal

PLMJ has been named best tax firm of the year in Portugal by leading international tax publication, International Tax Review.

The ‘Portugal Tax Firm of the Year 2014’ award recognises the work done by PLMJ’s tax team and highlights the excellence, complexity and innovation of the advice and support it provides in tax matters.

For João Magalhães Ramalho, the partner who heads PLMJ’s tax practice, “this award is important international recognition of the quality of service and permanent dedication of a team that strives to offer practical and innovative solutions to the challenges raised by its clients.”

He added that, “every client knows that, in PLMJ’s tax practice, they have the support of a well-structured team of tax law specialists who understand their situations and expectations and are focused on and capable of adding value”.

In 2013 PLMJ’s tax team advised on some of the most important restructuring operations, privatisations and tax litigation cases that occurred in Portugal. It also consolidated its international standing by working with the offices of PLMJ International Legal Network in Angola and Mozambique and, more recently, in Switzerland.

Working in close cooperation with the firm’s other practice areas, PLMJ’s tax team offers its client transversal solutions to all tax law questions. Its services range from advising on a full range of tax issues to handling any type of tax litigation, from the pre-litigation analysis to representing clients before the Portuguese Tax Authority and Portuguese and international courts.

PLMJ’s tax team, headed by partner João Magalhães Ramalho, also includes partners Nuno da Cunha Barnabé (responsible for the private clients) and Serena Cabrita Neto (responsible for tax litigation), and a group of lawyers based in Lisboa, Oporto and Faro.
