PLMJ strengthens capital markets team with the arrival of new partner André Figueiredo

PLMJ – Law Firm is pleased to announce the arrival of André Figueiredo, a leading capital markets and financial regulation lawyer, as partner and head of PLMJ’s capital markets team.
André Figueiredo has a doctorate in law from the Faculty of Law of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, as well as an LLM in Corporation Law from New York University School of Law and a postgraduate qualification in securities law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, where he earned his first degree. He is also a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the New University of Lisbon and author of a number of works in the areas of securities law, financial regulation and banking law.
Having worked previously at PLMJ, over the last few years he dedicated himself to an international project, joining the capital markets team of the global law firm Clifford Chance in Luxembourg.
Over recent years, he has worked on large-scale capital markets transactions, including IPOs (including Altice and eDreams Odigeo) and notes issuances. He has also advised on significant debt market transactions involving the European Stability Mechanism and the European Financial Stability Facility in the context of resolving the Zona Euro crisis. André Figuereido’s experience also includes numerous cross-border financing operations including high yield bonds and preference shares issues, as well as advice on restructuring and insolvency matters, for example, his work recent work advising investors in shares, bonds and commercial paper issued by the Espírito Santo Group companies.

PLMJ’s capital markets team currently has 10 lawyers including 3 senior associates. Together they have unparalleled experience in all aspects of securities law, financial regulation and corporate governance, as well as mergers and acquisitions of public companies.
On 16 April, PLMJ’s work was recognised when it won the equity (capital markets) “Deal of the Year” award from the prestigious UK publication International Financial Law Review. The Euronext IPO deal handled by PLMJ, working alongside international firms Linklaters, Loyens & Loeff, Shearman & Sterling, Stibbe and Willkie Farr & Gallagher, was considered the Deal of the Year in the Equity Capital Markets category.
