Launching of the mentoring program “Learning to Lead”

July, 2015 - Santiago, Chile

Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice, Carey and Falabella launched on June 23rd a mentoring program focused on young female lawyers to promote the development of their professional careers and acquire/strengthen leadership skills, both at a professional and personal level. The event was attended by more than 50 people, in their majority lawyers from different law firms, companies and of the public sector.
The program “Learning to lead” has as long-term purpose that a higher number of women reach senior positions, due to that in Chile, the number of women holding leading positions is low, which is particularly notorious in the case of lawyers.
“Learning to lead” is formed by a group of mentors composed by Paola Bruzzone, in-house counsel of Falabella; Lorena Pavic and Jessica Power, partners at Carey, Loreto Silva, partner at Bofill Escobar; Paulina Veloso, partner at Veloso y Cía.; Ximena Fuentes, professor at Universidad de Chile and Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez; Myriam Barahona, partner at Morales y Besa; Paola Cifuentes, legal counsel of Anglo American and María Agnes Salah, professor at Universidad de Chile.
Also, the program has an Advisory Committee composed by Jorge Carey, senior partner at Carey; Carlo Solari, chairman of the Board of Falabella; Carrie Cohen, member of the Directive Committee of Vance Center and Ank Santens, partner at White and Case.
