Hunton & Williams LLP Welcomes Eight to Miami Office

Hunton & Williams LLP announces the addition of eight lawyers to its Miami office: senior attorney Stefano D’Aniello and associates Terron L. Clark, Douglas C. Dreier, Camilo A. Mejia, Román Ortega-Cowan, Susanne Schurad, Rail Seoane, and Edrei G. Swanson.

The Lawyers

Stefano D’Aniello, a member of the firm’s Latin America practice group, focuses on domestic and cross-border financial and corporate transactions, as well as corporate representation of financial institutions, investment funds, and emerging companies. A veteran in the financial services, technology and investment banking industries, D’Aniello has worked as outside and in-house counsel, strategic advisor, and entrepreneur. Prior to joining Hunton & Williams, he most recently co-founded a venture-backed technology company that developed and licensed software to real estate private equity fund managers. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florida International University, graduating magna cum laude, and has a law degree from University of Pennsylvania.

Terron L. Clark focuses on employment and litigation matters. An undergraduate of Georgia State University, Clark earned his law degree from University of Miami School of Law, cum laude, where he was the managing editor of The University of Miami Race and Social Justice Law Review.

Douglas C. Dreier returns to the firm with the litigation practices, following a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Marjorie O. Rendell of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Dreier focused on cybersecurity, privacy litigation, contract disputes, and business torts, at both the trial and appellate levels. An undergraduate of Cornell University, Dreier was valedictorian of his class at Duke University School of Law. He previously interned with the Justice Department in their Civil Appellate division.

Camilo A. Mejia is also a returning member of the firm’s litigation team and Latin America practice, focusing on commercial litigation and intellectual property. Mejia had earlier left the firm for a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Patricia A. Seitz at the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Prior to rejoining the firm, Mejia was Senior Assistant City Attorney at the Office of the City Attorney, City of Miami Beach. He has a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, magna cum laude, a master’s degree from Loyola Marymount University, and law degree from Harvard Law School.

Román Ortega-Cowan is a member of the firm’s Latin America practice group and business litigation team. He has several years of experience litigating complex disputes in state and federal courts. He is admitted to practice before the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the US District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Florida, and the US Supreme Court. He received his law degree, cum laude, from Florida State University, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Florida State University Law Review. Following law school, Ortega-Cowan was a judicial intern to the Honorable John Antoon II, of the Middle District of Florida.

Susanne Schurad is a member of the firm’s corporate finance and M&A practice group, advising private equity funds, venture capital funds and mezzanine debt funds. Schurad received a Master of Jurisprudence from the University of Vienna’s School of Law, and a law degree and Master of Laws from Columbia Law School, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar..

Rail Seoane is a member of the firm’s Latin America and Cuba practice groups. He focuses on international and domestic mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, investments, and strategic transactions, as well as domestic and cross border corporate finance transactions. Seoane received a bachelor’s degree at Florida International University, summa cum laude. He received a law degree and Master of Laws from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a law fellow and notes development editor for the American Criminal Law Review.

Edrei G. Swanson represents national financial lenders in consumer finance litigation, loan servicing litigation, and real property litigation. Prior to joining Hunton & Williams, she held a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Marcia G. Cooke of the Southern District of Florida. Swason received an undergraduate degree in psychology from Georgia State University, where she was on Dean’s List; Master of Social Work from the University of Cincinnati, where she was a Graduate Minority Scholar and fellow award recipient; master’s degree in political science from University of Cincinnati, where she was a graduate scholar recipient; and a law degree from Howard University School of Law, where she was a Law Merit Scholar recipient.
