March, 2017 - Detroit, Michigan

Dykema, a leading national law firm, announced today that Kathleen Campbell Walker, El Paso-based member and leader of Dykema’s Immigration Team, has been recognized in Chambers Global 2017. Walker was ranked in Band 1, the highest band rating possible, and is one of only 11 lawyers in the United States awarded this ranking for expertise in business immigration.

Published annually, Chambers has been ranking the best law firms and lawyers since 1990, and now covers 185 jurisdictions throughout the world. Chambers ranks both lawyers and law firms based on the research of more than 170 full-time editors and researchers who conduct in-depth confidential interviews with lawyers and clients.

According to Chambers Global 2017, Walker “advises clients across a wide range of sectors, including defence, healthcare and education, on varied business immigration issues. She is highly experienced in assisting companies with the cross-border transfer of staff, particularly between Mexico and the USA. One source says: ‘She's extremely knowledgeable and she’s also effective and that’s an important element.’”

Walker has been ranked in Band 1 by Chambers Global and Chambers USA for several consecutive years. She focuses her practice on business-based immigration, consular processing, employer sanctions/worksite enforcement, cross-border related immigration issues, immigration audits, security checks, waivers, admissibility, and citizenship and naturalization. She has testified before Congress and state legislatures multiple times on immigration policy and border security.

Walker is a former national president and general counsel of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). In 2014, she received the AILA Founder’s Award, which was established in 1950 and is awarded from time to time to the person or entity who has had the most substantial impact on the field of immigration law or policy in the preceding period.

Her clients include hospitals and other healthcare providers, major global manufacturing and energy companies, technology firms, financial institutions, defense contractors, construction companies, cities, counties, hospitality and hospitality service companies, agricultural businesses, professional employer organizations, educational institutions, restaurants, food service franchisees, investors and entrepreneurs, ranches, equestrians, performing artists, and individuals. She is board certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
