WSG Congratulates Member Firms and Lawyers on Receiving Multiple Awards for Excellence of Women in Law

Ms. Setsuko Yufu, partner at Tokyo based law firm Atsumi & Sakai, was recently honored with the Woman Lawyer of the Year award from the Asian Legal Business (ALB) magazine as it hosted its ALB Japan Law Awards 2017 Awards Ceremony. This is the first year that ALB has granted such an honor, and Ms. Yufu is the first recipient of this prestigious award.
Ms. María Teresa Quiñones, senior partner at Peruvian law firm Rodrigo Elias & Medrano, has been named as the Best Lawyer in Energy, Natural Resources & Mining, by the Euromoney Legal Media Group (LMG) Americas Women in Business Law Awards for 2017.
Uruguay law firm, Guyer & Regules, was also honored at the LMG Americas Women in Business Law Awards as the Best Law Firm in Uruguay for its support of women lawyers and professionals through initiatives for gender diversity, innovation, minority women, mentoring, work-life balance, pro bono work, and talent management.
Further, Corina Bove, partner in the corporate and transactional practice at Guyer and Regules, received the top honor of Best Corporate Lawyer in Latin America, from the LMG Americas Women in Business Law Awards for her excellent work in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities' offerings, project finance as well as corporate and banking law.
Representing the European continent, two WSG member firms have received top honors for their commitments to furthering women’s roles in the practice of law. The LMG Europe Women in Business Law Awards recognized Ireland based law firm, A&L Goodbody as the Best National Firm for Minority Women Lawyers and the law firm of Arendt & Medernach as the Best Law Firm in Luxembourg at the recent 2017 awards ceremony.
