Robert A. Boonin Chosen for Board of Editors of Bloomberg BNA Treatise “The Fair Labor Standards Act”

Dykema, a leading national law firm, announced today Detroit- and Ann Arbor-based member in the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group, was selected to serve on the Board of Editors for the Bloomberg BNA treatise “The Fair Labor Standards Act.”

The 14-member Board is a distinguished group of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) scholars and practitioners who are responsible for producing each full edition of the Treatise, in addition to its yearly supplements. Each member provides considerable input for the substance of the Treatise, which is the go-to reference for anything related to the FLSA.

In his practice, Boonin has successfully represented employers in wrongful termination, employment discrimination, wage and hour, retaliation and other employment-related lawsuits and claims across the country. He has also represented employers in labor grievance arbitrations, labor negotiations, unfair labor practices, representational proceedings and labor strikes.

Outside of his practice, Boonin is very active in professional organizations. He co-Chairs the American Bar Association’s FLSA Subcommittee, is a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and the Litigation Counsel of America (of which he is also a former President), a member and former Chair of the Wage and Hour Defense Institute, a member and former Council Chair of the State Bar of Michigan’s Labor and Employment Law Section, former Chair of the Washtenaw County Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section, a member of the Institute of Continuing Legal Education’s Advisory Board on Labor and Employment Law, the American Employment Law Council, and the Labor and Employment Relations Association.

Boonin, who has been recognized as a leading Labor & Employment Lawyers by Chambers USA each year since 2010, received his J.D. from The University of Michigan Law School, a Master’s in Labor and Industrial Relations from the School of Labor and Industrial Relations of Michigan State University, and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
