Lynne Liberato Serves on ‘Power Panel,’ Sets Stage for Geena Davis Keynote

September, 2018 - Dallas, Texas

Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Lynne Liberato will serve on a “2018 Houston Power Panel” on Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Women’s Business Symposium at the Bayou City Event Center.

The Symposium, organized and sponsored by Comerica Bank, is designed to connect women business owners, executives and professionals and inspire them to help shape the future business landscape. Liberato was selected for the panel because of her dedication to her clients, her profession and her community.

She is expected to talk about the importance of mentorship, how she transitioned from being an individual contributor to an organizational leader, and how she stays motivated to achieve her vision for her team. She will also answer the question, “What do you do to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary?”

”Speaking at major programs such as this one not only increases the profile of the firm in the Houston business community, but reinforces our brand as a firm where its women lawyers can reach the highest levels of management,” Liberato said.

A partner in the firm’s Appellate Practice, Liberato has led teams in some of the most significant appeals and trials in Texas, including arguing to the United States Supreme Court. She served as the first woman president of the Houston Bar Associate and as president of the State Bar of Texas. She is also chair of the United Way of Greather Houston’s Hurricane Harvey Task Force. The Women and the Law Section of the State Bar of Texas selected Liberato as the 2018 winner of the prestigious Louise B. Raggio Award, which recognizes an attorney who has actively addressed the needs and issues of women in the legal profession and the community. Liberato will be joined on the Women’s Symosium Power Panel by Susan Distefano, CEO of Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, and Mary Vitek, CEO of Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, one of the largest Girl Scout councils in the nation.

Following the Houston Power Panel discussion, award-winning actress Geena Davis will give a keynote speech about gender equality. While Davis is best known for her roles in films such as Thelma & Louise, A League of Their Own, and The Accidental Tourist, she also founded the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media.

Davis is expected to provide a passionate message about why gender equity is empowering for both men and women and why it is essential for the future of the U.S. to foster strength of character and resolve in children of both genders.

Liberato, Davis and the other presenters will participate in a small VIP reception afterward.

Davis will appear at another symposium in Detroit on May 17, 2019.
