Gregory A. Tapocsi Joins Dinsmore’s Columbus Office

Dinsmore & Shohl LLP has added Gregory A. Tapocsi as of counsel to the firm’s Columbus office, practicing out of the health care group. His experience includes reviewing and analyzing compliance with leading cybersecurity frameworks such as those created by the National Institute of Standards and Technology developing plans for minimizing cybersecurity risk, and collaborating nationally with attorneys general offices.

Tapocsi comes to Dinsmore from the Ohio attorney general’s office, where he managed and supervised the cyber and privacy unit as the director of CyberOhio and senior assistant attorney general. With CyberOhio, Tapocsi helped draft and pass into law the Ohio Data Protection Act.  The groundbreaking legislation is the first of its kind in the United States and gives businesses an affirmative defense to certain data breach lawsuits.  He has lead statewide outreach and education for businesses regarding cybersecurity and data protection.

Tapocsi received his J.D. from Ohio Northern University Petit College of Law, where he was the recipient of multiple scholarships and the associate editor of the law review. He received his B.A. in political science from the University of Tennessee.
