Hanson Bridgett Welcomes Appellate Specialist Gary A. Watt

Hanson Bridgett LLP is pleased to announce that Gary A. Watt has joined the firm as an appellate partner in its litigation practice group. Gary will also serve as Chair of the firm's Appellate Practice. He is resident in the firm’s San Francisco office.

“We’re looking forward to having Gary among our litigation ranks,” said Managing Partner Andrew Giacomini. “Gary is well-versed in every aspect of appellate law, and his addition will further our versatile litigation practice group.”

Gary’s practice focuses on handling writs and appeals in California appellate courts, including the Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also spent more than a decade acting as lead counsel for clients through pretrial and post-trial motions and risk assessment opinions.

Within the appellate community, Gary is a thought leader and frequent contributor to legal publications such as the Daily Journal and The Recorder, having published over 50 articles on appellate issues. Outside of his regular practice, he also serves as chair of the Contra Costa County Bar Association’s appellate practice section.

Actively involved with his alma mater, the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, Gary has served as adjunct professor of appellate advocacy and is currently Director and lead counsel for the Hastings Appellate Project, supervising law students handling pro bono appeals in the Ninth Circuit.
