Profile

Senior Associate

Victoria Cohene is a member of the firm's Litigation group, specifically in Family Law, Personal Law and Estate Law. Her practice covers all matters relating to family, personal and estate law, in particular divorce, legal separation, separation of de facto couples, child custody, child and spousal support, partition of property, name changes, grandparents' rights of access to their grandchildren, institution of protective supervision, homologation of mandates and estate litigation.

Me Cohene defends and protects the rights and interests of her clients with passion and diligence. She takes a hands-on approach to all of her cases and offers her clients realistic advice. Every case is handled with the same standard of excellence, regardless of size. Me Cohene makes herself available to all of her clients and responds quickly to their needs and concerns. She advises her clients on contested issues and on the negotiation of out-of-court settlements, whether prior to the judicial process or as part of it. Over the years, Me Cohene has developed a wealth of knowledge and experience. She has worked on cases of varying degrees of complexity, including international cases. She has also acquired valuable experience pleading before the courts, including the Court of Appeal.

During her law studies, Me Cohene did an internship at a legal information centre for seniors, during which she developed a marked interest in elder law, including the protection of vulnerable persons and the institution of protective supervision. She also received several awards, including the I.M.E Prize in commercial law, the Gerald S. Tritt, Q.C. Prize for the highest ranking in special contracts, the Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt Prize in corporate law and commercial law, and the Yoine Goldstein Prize in bankruptcy and insolvency.

Before becoming a lawyer, Me Cohene taught elementary and high school students. She has a strong understanding of children's needs and development, which serves her well in custody cases.
