Shoosmiths appoints Shama Perera as director of business development & marketing

Shoosmiths has appointed Shama Perera as the new director of business development & marketing. This follows a string of hires across the partnership and business services functions, as the firm seeks to deliver its dynamic 2030 ambition.

Shama will drive the firm’s client-led growth strategy across the firm’s core practice areas of Real Estate, Corporate and Litigation and five sectors of Energy and Infrastructure, Mobility, Financial Services, Living and Technology.

She brings a wealth of experience to Shoosmiths having held senior leadership positions at leading global, US and magic circle firms.  During her career, Shama has developed and executed comprehensive business development strategies, client engagement initiatives, and impactful marketing campaigns.

Over the last six months the firm have hired and promoted 12 partners across its Corporate, Advisory Services and Real Estate practices along with three directors in addition to Shama, as Chief Executive David Jackson pushes his transformation agenda to become a leading upper-mid market firm by 2030.

Shoosmiths were recently ranked number one by Pitchbook, having been named as the most active law firm in venture capital (VC) in the UK in their 2023 global league tables. This is in addition to the firm being named the most active merger and acquisitions (M&A) law firm in the UK (Experian MarketIQ), a clear demonstration of Jackson’s drive to expand their corporate business.
