Gareth is an associate with our Tax Group. He brings 9 years of tax experience to the group having worked at Deloitte & Touche LLP, as the Director of Tax for a private real estate company, and most recently as a Senior Tax Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Gareth obtained his legal education in the UK prior to coming to Canada in 2003.
He advises clients in various industries including mining, forestry and real estate, from large private BC-based companies to international public companies. He has in-depth experience of oil & gas taxation, serving large multi-national clients in this area. He also assists clients with personal tax and estate planning.
Gareth's experience includes:
mergers and acquisitions work, focusing on tax due diligence for resident and non-resident purchasers of Canadian corporations
drafting step plans and tax memos for various reorganizations including estate freezes, re-freezes, refinancing, and management buy outs
drafting step plans for corporate reorganizations, windups and amalgamations
advising on the tax aspects of debt restructuring
outbound investment into the EU
