Unprecedented: Closing the Leadership Gap for Women and Minorities in the Legal Profession
Law firms and their corporate clients around the globe are cognizant of the value, benefits and challenges of improving diversity and inclusion within the profession. However, multinational companies are driving the transformation to make law firm cultures more heterogeneous and reflective of the vast populations clients employ and serve. Even with mounting pressure of client demands, far too few law firms have been successful in efforts to recruit, retain and advance women, racial and ethnic minorities, and LGBTQ attorneys.
In this session, we explore the common barriers that undermine the well-intentioned efforts of law firms. We also discuss unprecedented equitable approaches, such as the Mansfield Rule, adopted by law firms and corporate law departments alike to shift away from traditional cultural norms that fail to harness the benefits of diversity towards inclusive cultures that maximize unique talent.
