Alex represents financial sponsors, portfolio companies, and other public and private companies in a variety of investment and financing transactions. These include sale transactions, debt financings, leveraged buyouts, control and minority equity investments, spinoffs, and recapitalizations, with a particular emphasis on middle-market merger and acquisition transactions.

In addition to private equity and other funds, he has advised firms (including portfolio companies) in the energy, software and technology, media and advertising, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, consumer goods, and professional services sectors. Alex also advises clients on corporate governance issues and has experience with SEC compliance matters, structured finance, and securitization transactions.

A former summer associate at the firm, Alex previously served as a Martin Luther King Jr. intern for Legal Aid of North Carolina. Before attending law school, Alex worked for several years as an associate at a small consulting firm.

Significant Accomplishments

Represented FTP Power LLC (sPower), the largest independent owner, operator, and developer of utility scale solar assets in the United States, in its $2.1 billion sale to affiliates of The AES Corporation and Alberta Investment Management Corporation by Fir Tree Partners and sPower’s minority owners.
