Profile
Alexis routinely practices in state and federal courts throughout West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio, focusing primarily on the defense of complex litigation, premises liability, product liability, general tort liability, transportation law, mass and toxic torts and insurance law. She has experience defending retailers, railway companies, trucking companies, chemical companies, insurance companies, hospitality and manufacturing companies. She believes to truly defend a case she has to know what makes each client’s business run. Every bit of discovery is targeted to an end goal – to put her client in the best position possible for a positive outcome.
She has first chair experience that includes obtaining favorable rulings on dispositive motions as well as defense verdicts in jury trials on behalf of clients. Alexis’ experience makes her adept at determining and directing case strategy from the pleadings stage through the verdict.
She defends retailers and other companies against premises liability claims, and she represents employers against harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, and “deliberate intent” claims. She defends insurance companies in coverage-related disputes and against “bad faith” claims. In addition, she defends manufacturers against product liability claims, including claims relating to alleged defective products, breach-of-warranty claims, and claims relating to alleged chemical exposure. She has also represented railway companies in a variety of contexts, including claims for personal and repetitive injuries, claims for sexual harassment and retaliation, and property-related claims.
