Hugh Mansfield is a partner, lawyer, patent agent and trademark agent in Lavery’s intellectual property group. He practices in the intellectual property field since 2000. He is a lawyer and a registered patent agent in both Canada and the United States. Before practicing in intellectual property, he worked for over six years in Germany within a major consulting engineering firm, developing both air-ground data links and software simulating data communications in the aviation field.

Significant Accomplishments

Hugh practices primarily in the areas of telecommunications and electronics working closely with a full range of clients including small, medium and large companies as well as universities helping them develop and execute IP strategies oriented towards their business goals. In particular, he provides guidance on IP portfolio development, management and use. His practice includes the procurement of patent rights in domestic and foreign jurisdictions, as well as opinions and counselling in patentability, validity and infringement matters and licensing.
