Profile

Karri Kuenzli Bradley brings an extensive scientific background to helping clients obtain intellectual property rights in the United States and foreign jurisdictions. Her clients include many of the world’s most innovative universities, research institutions, and biotech companies.

Karri is a registered U.S. patent attorney with more than 15 years’ experience helping clients obtain patent rights in the biological and chemical sciences, with a particular emphasis on cancer biology, pharmacology, immunology, molecular biology, large and small molecules, and medical diagnostics/devices.

She represents domestic and international clients ranging from universities, research institutions, governmental entities, start-ups, to leaders in the biotechnology space. She has developed extensive patent portfolios for devices, diagnostic assays, compounds, and methods of treatment (e.g., cancer, infectious diseases, and muscular dystrophy) that have been licensed to large pharmaceutical companies, as well as spun out into start-ups.

Karri practices all aspects of intellectual property law. She successfully defended three inter partes reviews for Waveform Technologies, Inc. against Dexcom, Inc. involving analyte sensors and methods of use (Dexcom, Inc., v. Waveform Technologies, Inc., IPR2016-01679, IPR2016-016, and IPR2017-01051). Defending and asserting patents has made Karri a stronger patent prosecutor, as she better understands the pitfalls that need to be avoided during prosecution.

She also prepares opinions on patentability, inventorship, freedom-to-operate, non-infringement and invalidity, assists clients with due diligence analyses, trademark procurement and enforcement, patent and trademark licensing transactions, and Plant Variety Protection Act applications.

Karri holds a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology and performed post-doctoral fellowships in pharmacology and molecular biology. This experience and her desire for continued learning and challenge translates to her commitment to understanding all aspects of a client’s business and goals and providing them with the best possible representation.
