Profile

Beverley Newbold is a recognised litigator and dispute resolution specialist dealing in large corporate disputes, class actions, and regulatory and compliance investigations, as well as defending claims against directors and professional advisors, including in the context of ASIC investigations.

Recent major proceedings include representing Qantas in Federal Court proceedings against Rolls Royce over the headline Airbus A380 engine failure.  In the class action space, she is presently acting for Billabong International Limited a class action brought by shareholders. She acted for MFS group non-executive directors in a class action brought by unit holders, and also acted for Qantas in a class action brought by travel agents.

Beverley also acts and advises on contractual and IT-related disputes, breaches of consumer protection provisions, and corporations legislation applications.

Beverley brings significant cross-border disputes experience to her practice, including international arbitrations, drawing upon several years' experience with the top-five global firm, Freshfields, in London.  She has a Masters of Law in International Business Regulation, Litigation and Arbitration from New York University.

Beverley's litigation and disputes expertise has been noted in Chambers Asia-Pacific, Australasian Legal Business Insurance Law Guide and Best Lawyers. She has been praised as "an excellent litigator - she is responsive, intuitive and very bright, and she appreciates how to work as part of a team with in-house lawyers."
