I have 40 years of specialist legal experience in the private and public sectors during my career, in Planning Law, Environmental Law, Land Acquisition and Compensation, Native Title and Heritage as well as in Property matters, having worked with developers on major development projects and infrastructure matters. As I have worked with the Western Australian Government, I am well versed in government processes, procedures, and legislation, and have advised the State Government, Local Councils, and Redevelopment Authorities in major land acquisition, environmental and planning matters for many Government projects.

  • Advising Government on implementation issues for major land developments, the subject of agreements with private developers, including contaminated site remediation, valuation and land assembly strategy and planning processes.
  • Acting for a land developer concerning a potential environmental and planning prosecution involving Federal, State and Local Government authorities.
  • Northbridge tunnel-advising Main Roads on acquisition strategy for over 100 properties in Central City area with multiple competing interests to be acquired.
  • Successful negotiation of a compensation claim against the State Government for long standing reservation of land.
  • Advising Subiaco Redevelopment Authority on acquisition strategies. options for creating ground level development above underground railway and planning decisions.
  • Advising client on a $1.5 billion rail project regarding a strategy on negotiating and acquisition of a multitude of competing property interests such as leasehold, land/tenant, sub-lessee and tenancies at will.
  • Advising Commonwealth and State Ministers on Aboriginal Heritage and Native Title requirements and planning and environmental requirements for proposed new Prison complex.
  • Conducting high level Tribunal proceedings challenging Government decision to reserve land for public purposes with consequent compensation claim.
  • Acting for major corporate client on environmental and planning approvals and compliance for a manufacturing facility
  • Advising major land developer over public open spaces requirements issues on compensation, Aboriginal Heritage and Environment Assessment.
  • Advising major government infrastructure provider over buffer protection measures through planning mechanisms, environmental guidelines and property acquisition measures.
  • Reviewing and advising on drafting of a major Regional Framework for several Native Title parties.
